Gambling revenue in Pennsylvania increased 15.4% year-on-year in June, driven by growth within the state’s iGaming and sports betting sectors.

Overall revenue for the month was $544.7 million, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). This was clear of $472 million in June of 2024 but 9.5% shy of the $601.8 million haul in May this year.

Retail slots remained the primary single source of revenue in the state. However, it was iGaming and sports betting that reported the most growth, with double-digit revenue increases across both segments.

Pennsylvania iGaming revenue clears $212.0 million

Starting with iGaming, revenue in this area jumped 32.3% to $212.6 million. Of this, $162.2 million was attribute to online slots, $47.6 million internet table games and $2.7 million online poker.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and its online gaming partners again led the market. Revenue from online gambling in June hit $81 million, up 35.5% year-on-year.

Valley Forge Casino Resort remained second with $59.3 million, a rise of 56.5%. Rivers Casino Philadelphia took third with $35.2 million, some 14.7% more than the previous year.

Sports betting revenue rockets 71.4%

Turning to sports betting, revenue in this sector hiked 71.4% to $51.2 million. Of this, $49.2 million came from online wagering and $2 million retail sportsbook.

In terms of handle, players spent $483.6 million, a 4.1% increase from June of last year. This included $460.3 million bet online and $23.0 million at land-based venues in Pennsylvania.

As such, the state ended the month with a hold of 10.17%.

Looking to operators, FanDuel, partnered with Valley Forge Casino Resort, again took top spot. Generating $23.2 million in revenue off a $164.0 million handle meant a 14.15% hold.

DraftKings and Hollywood Casino at the Meadows remained second with $14.2 million from $132.0 million for a 10.76% hold. Hollywood Casino Morgantown and BetMGM were third at $3.1 million from $46.4 million, meaning a hold of 6.68%.

Fanatics and Hollywood Casino York were next at $2.3 million from $35.9 million for a 6.41% hold. ESPN Bet and Hollywood Casino at Penn National completed the top five with $2.1 million off a $21.8 million handle, leaving a hold of 9.63%

Land-based market levels out in Pennsylvania

As for land-based gambling, retail slots revenue dipped 0.9% to $199.3 million. However, table games revenue edged up 1.6% to $77.3 million for the month.

Video gaming terminal revenue at truck stops was down 2.2% to $3.4 million. Meanwhile, the PGCB noted a 1.8% decline in fantasy sports revenue to $948,790.

Concluding with tax dollars received by the state and local governments, their total income for June was $229.8 million. Of this, iGaming generated $95.7 million, sports betting $18.4 million, land-based slots $100.8 million and physical table games $13 million.
