Henry Brothers has been appointed to deliver a new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in central Nottingham.
The Northern Ireland-based contractor said it will start enabling works at the site on Lister Gate this month, after contracts were signed between site landlord Homes England and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, which will operate the facility.
The £92.2m-turnover contractor did not divulge the value of the deal, although data intelligence provider Glenigan estimates it at £25m.
Designed by architects Leonard Design, the building will be delivered with structural and civil engineering input from Arup.
The scheme is part of a national programme backed by the Department of Health and Social Care to improve diagnostic capacity in community settings. It will form part of the wider Broad Marsh regeneration, which includes a new public park and transport interchange.
When complete, the building will offer services including MRI and CT scans, x-rays, echocardiography and lung function testing. These services are intended to reduce waiting times for diagnostic tests and improve access in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
The site, which is owned by Homes England, required complex design development due to its proximity to the main Broad Marsh centre and the presence of asbestos, Henry Brothers said.
The CDC is expected to open in late 2026 and will host up to 140,000 appointments annually. It is projected to create 75 new roles, increasing to 135 once the facility reaches full capacity. Staff will include radiographers, imaging assistants, consultants and administrative workers.
Construction work will be carried out near the Broad Marsh bus station and car park in Nottingham, with temporary diagnostics services continuing nearby during the build programme.
