Erica Ezeifedi, Associate Editor, is a transplant from Nashville, TN that has settled in the North East. A new month means new books, and The New York Times has released a list of 22 of the new books coming out in August that they’re excited about. The list includes books by everyone from the National Book Award-winning Jason Mott to the mega bestselling R.F. Kuang to Louis Sachar (author of Holes!).

Below is a small sampling of the list to get you started. There is a cultural biography of Black sci-fi icon Octavia E. Butler, an academic trip to hell, 18th-century sisters who may be transforming into dogs at night, and more.
