Hulu subscribers can now stream almost the complete Night at the Museum franchise. The first three movies – Night at the Museum (2006), Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009), and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014) – started streaming on Hulu beginning September 1st. The fourth and most recent sequel, 2022’s animated movie Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again, is available to stream on Disney+. The original trilogy of films stars Ben Stiller as Larry, a divorced father who takes a job as the night security guard at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Little does he know that he’s in for more than he expected when he discovers an Egyptian curse causes the museum’s exhibits to come to life.
Why You Should Watch The Night At The Museum Film Series
The Night at the Museum franchise is criminally overlooked in the larger realm of family-friendly movies, a genre dominated by films like Shrek, Harry Potter, and Matilda. Absolute fun for all ages, the movies tap into the inherent mystery of museums and the natural curiosity and imagination of kids to bring an original, fun, and engaging story packed with action, humor, and a bit of history. The films also feature a talented cast of stars, including Robin Williams, Ricky Gervais, Owen Wilson, Amy Adams, Rami Malek, and Rebel Wilson, who bring plenty of charm in their respective roles.
The original Night at the Museum trilogy is streaming on Hulu amid an upcoming franchise reboot. It was reported in July 2025 that Shawn Levy’s production company 21 Laps Entertainment has begun development on a Night at the Museum “reimagining” for Disney’s 20th Century Studios. The movie, to be written by Tripper Clancy, will reportedly shift focus to a group of new characters at a different museum, but further plot details haven’t been released. Levy, Dan Levine, and Emily Morris are attached as producers. Casting announcements haven’t been made.
