The New York Yankees have faced a lot of injuries this season. It began in the spring, when Gerrit Cole underwent elbow surgery that would end his season before it could get started.
But the team has fought more injuries than just Cole’s elbow surgery. Players like Clarke Schmidt, Aaron Judge, Oswaldo Cabrera, and a few others have had their seasons altered or ended because of unfortunate injuries.
Still, the team finds itself in the middle of a postseason hunt. Given the talent on the roster, the Yankees are still a real threat to win the World Series in a few months.
But they were recently dealt another crushing injury blow.

Manager Aaron Boone recently told Yankees reporter Chris Kirschner that pitcher Jonathan Loáisiga would miss the rest of the season with a flexor strain. But, on the bright side for New York, the right-hander won’t require surgery and is expected to be ready for opening day in 2026.
Loáisiga hasn’t been able to play a fully healthy season since 2022, when he appeared in 50 games for the Yankees. After missing most of last season, the righty’s season is cut short, too.
At times, he struggled for the Yankees, but for the most part, he did his job pretty well in the Bronx. Boone used the veteran in a multitude of roles, so he’s going to be a bit difficult to replace.
The Yankees should have the pitching depth and talent to replace him down the stretch. Fortunately for the Bronx Bombers, the front office added a few talented relievers at the trade deadline.
